LCC Stradbroke Area Special Investigation (1977)
Progress
Overview
In February 1977 the LCC was directed to make an investigation of the Stradbroke area to determine whether suitable public land existed for alienation for private forestry purposes.
A descriptive report was published in June 1977. The Council received 68 written submissions on the future use of the land from the general public and interested organisations. After considering the submissions and visiting the Stradbroke area, the Council formulated its proposed recommendations which were published in August 1977. The Council received 38 submissions commenting on the proposed recommendations. The final recommendations were published in November 1977.
The Council determined that an area of land was suitable for private forestry, but recommended that it be leased rather than alienated.
The descriptive report, proposed recommendations and final recommendations are available from this page.
Government decisions on the final recommendations can be found on this website here.
